MAKING A STRATEGIC IMPACT

Brinkmann’s first project for Urban Outfitters, Inc. (URBN)—a global lifestyle retail company with a diverse portfolio of consumer brands—has established a significant operational footprint in Raymore, Missouri.

Location

Raymore, MO

Size

604,000

Project Scope

This comprehensive development involved converting a 1 million square foot spec warehouse into a specialized 600,000 square foot industrial facility for Nuuly, URBN’s rapidly growing subscription-based rental service. The state-of-the-art complex integrates:

Industrial dry cleaning operations

  • Commercial laundry facilities
  • Administrative offices
  • Distribution capabilities

The project also included separating an additional 400,000 square feet for potential operational expansion or tenant use.

Technical Features

The facility incorporates sophisticated systems essential to Nuuly’s clothing rental business:

  • Custom boiler room installation
  • Advanced chiller system
  • Custom modular central plant
  • Industrial washers and dryers
  • Cutting-edge automated carousel capable of holding up to 2,000,000 garments simultaneously

Economic Impact

As part of a $60 million investment across two phases over five years, this represents URBN’s second Nuuly fulfillment and laundry facility nationwide. The Raymore operation is designed to triple the brand’s active subscriber base and is expected to create 750 jobs over the next five years.

Strategic Significance

Since its 2019 launch, Nuuly has become the leading subscription rental clothing service for women, offering over 19,000 styles from more than 400 designer and contemporary brands, including Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and Free People. The Raymore Commerce Center location allows URBN to optimize service across the country with its full laundering and clothing alteration capabilities.

The facility’s Missouri location provides strategic advantages through the state’s central location, robust infrastructure, and skilled workforce, positioning Nuuly for continued growth in its mission to offer fashion options that are gentler on both the planet and customers’ wallets.
